One thousand brightly colored carnival ducks float in Eighteen Mile Creek to race to the finish line. Cash grand prize and many other prizes too. Town of Newfane Kids Fishing Derby
Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon, Olcott Harbor, Eighteen Mile Creek, Fisherman's Park and Burt Dam. This event is always held on the Saturday of NY State’s free fishing weekend No fishing licenses needed! Register at the Newfane marina pavilion. Must be ages 4 to 15 to participate. No fishing from boats allowed. The life jacket loaner program is sponsored by the Newfane Lions Club. Rain or shine. Patriots Parade
Thursday, 12:30 p.m., Olcott. Straight from a Norman Rockwell painting, this parade is nostalgic, patriotic and fun! Dress up in red, white and blue and decorate your bikes and wagons. Meet at the Krull Park overlook in the north park by noon and march to Olcott Beach Carousel Park. Free ice cream and ride ticket for participants. Jazz Sea Sunset at the Olcott Yacht Club to Benefit Olcott Beach Carousel Park. Tuesday, Don't be left out! This is the party of the year and all for a good cause. It's a fundraiser for Olcott Beach Carousel Park (a not for profit, all volunteer run kiddie park) and takes place from 7 - 10 PM. Guests can enjoy an evening of musical entertainment (for listening and dancing under the stars) with the Sophisticats on the patio and sing-along piano favorites in the dining room with Kevin Clark. $20. Tickets also include hors d'oeuvres and a light supper. Cash bar and a view of the sunset on Lake Ontario.
