Why: Explore Buffalo Niagara 2007 is the first step in a strategic effort to advance the region by inviting companies to consider expanding or relocating here by personally welcoming and acquainting them with the area's resources and citizens. The follow-up to this convergence of various prospective job-creating businesses will be the role of area professional economic development entities.
Where: This inter-active forum takes place at various sites in New York State's Erie and Niagara counties.
How: A customized industry-specific agenda will be developed for each of the diverse participants. Daily activities (e.g., receptions, leisure activities, and tours) that showcase the region's assets and its residents will be included.
Who: The committee, drawn from various business, government, labor, and community sectors, is headed by David A. Roll, Western New York Chapter Manager for the National Electrical Contractors Association, and co-chaired by United Auto Workers Assistant Regional Director Kevin J. Donovan and Samuel M. Ferraro, Commissioner of the Niagara County Center for Economic Development. Chairmen serve on a volunteer basis. The Buffalo Niagara Sister City Coalition is facilitating the international invitations.
Funding: Explore Buffalo Niagara 2007 is supported by private sector businesses and individuals, foundations, not-for-profit organizations, and area economic development entities.
